The new Dorco Pace 3D Motion - first review

Here we go
The razor arrived this weekend and I can give you a first review of all the new features.
I got the razor via ebay for $18 and found it on gmarket and ebay if you are outside of korea

Dorco started with a new package design, not the big plastic boxes like before, now a cardbox with glued blister, so less plastic. The RFID chip is inside the blister.

So have a first view on the new handle. Nice handling, good weight (51g) and excellent grip. The structure on the upper side of the handle is different from the Dorco Pace 6 Pro but also gives good control. On the lower side of the handle there is a soft rubber for optium grip

How does it work compared with the Gillette Flexball system?
First of all with less force. While the flexball needs a lot pressure to follow a curve, the Dorco Pace 3D Motion works nearly force free. IMHO it has a bit of a wobbler. It moves even if you only shake the razor gently. At the first moment it is like there is no feedback from the razor, but you have control about the movement every second.

Dorco Pace 3D Motion centered

As mentioned in the earlier post about the Dorco Pace 3D Motion the system is working with 2 magnets to recenter the cartridge position instead of the small spring steel at the Flexball. Maybe Dorco will change the strength of the magnets with a later edition of the 3D Motion system.

The angle of the movement looks the same for both razors.

You can see I have to fix the position of the Flexball to stay in that position cause of the force from the spring steel, while the Dorco Pace 3D Motion stays in the moved position.

What else is new?

The honeycomb structure of the rubber guard bar has changed compared to the original Dorco Pace 7, the docking system at the cartridge is modified, changing cartridges needs less force with the eject button. Those 2 changes also belongs to the Dorco Pace 7 II refresh, which has a blue color scheme with gunmetal instead yellow with chrome for the Pace 7 II. The Dorco Pace 7 II  has only the modified honeycomb bar. But I`m sure Dorco is always modifying and optimizing a lot of detail
The docking system is still compatible to all Dorco Pace cartridges starting at Dorco Pace 3

The new cartridge for the Dorco Pace 3D Motion uses the new blades of the Dorco Pace Pro series but still has no trimming blade. The protective cap for the cartridge is a usefull detail while traveling.

The new Dorco Pace 3D Motion

This year Dorco is hitting the market with one more new feature

Remember the first thought when I saw the rounded Dorco Pace 7 head of the handle - oh is there a movement possible? No not with that razor, but now there is the new Pace 3D Motion handle by Dorco

The new Dorco Pace 3D Motion comes with a flexible swivel on  the head for better follow the conturs of your face.

While I´m still waiting for my ordered razor to arrive I can only provide with a few screenshots

Different to the systems of Gillette, Personna/Schick this movement is controlled by magnets!

One magnet fixed in the handle and one magnet in the moving part of the pivot will controll the movement and the recentering of the razor head.

According to the pictures it should be a side to side movement, no aditional suspension of the head

I`m curious  how this new system  works in comparison to the other flexible systems on the market so far.
So stay tuned

The Dorco Pace Pro Series

While the Pace 5 is sold as Pace 5 pro in the U.S. there are new handle and blades coming to Europe.

2nd Update

The Dorco Pace 6 pro and the Dorco Pace 4 pro (with its own handle) are also available at the U.S. via amazon now. The Dorco Pace Power is not longer listed at the Dorco U.S. site

Update:

I did a shave with the new Dorco Pace 6 Pro comparing with a Doroc Pace 6+ head.
Both shaves were fine, with a little advantage for the new Pro blades.
I like the new trimmer, you can`t cut yourself like it happened easily with the old 6+.

First what is the difference between the old Pace and the new Pace pro?
Dorco optimized the blades and the space between them, slimmer cartridge design, new rounded lubrication strip, new soap/foam handling, trimmer blade with comb and guard and an upgraded connecting system, still compatible with every Dorco Pace blade from the Dorco Pace 3 upwards.
So now you can get a razor with 4, 5 or 6 blades with trimmer from Dorco with the new Dorco Pro series

You can find  most of the information at the updated Dorco Global Website
at the last 2 pages of the Company Profile Brochure

Don`t want to put screenshots here without  permission from Dorco.

The catalog is not top actual (downl.19th Aug 2019 without the new Pro series and the updated Pace7 II fresh), the DorcoPace Page will be a better source for the newest pictures and razors

There will be the new Pace 6 pro (aka Pace6 style in Korea) with new formed handle with nice structure at the upper side of the handle, sandwave structure for better grip at the downside and all the other new features. In addition to the 4- or 5-blade cartridge there is a second gliding/lubrication strip before the blades.

the new Dorco Pace 4 pro blades

There are Pace 4 pro blades (with trimmer) via amazon.co.uk available with the new Pace 6 pro handle.
didn`t find the new Pace 4 style handle, but if I compare the pictures at the DorcoPace Page it looks like a cheaper and more light version. of the Pace 6 Pro handle Like the 2 different handles of the shave-it Pro and the shave-it value aka Pace 5 pro and the  TRA4000 aka shave-it value

I`m sure the handle and blades are coming to several European supermarkets later this or next year.
I know the Pace 5 pro was available at the spanish Aldi according to an entry at this great spanish razor forum

The new handle has a weight of 42g (P5 35g, P6+/XL 47g) without the blades, the top of the handle has  structure in a dark brown color (not like black carbon like most pictures show), downside sandwave structured rubber for better grip.

The next generation or something different by Gillette: "The Heated Razor by Gillette Labs"

Have to apologize, this is no Dorco but to hot no to to tell about

this is a small first lookup of the razor and the content will changes some  times and will do better pictures

Via Indiegogo I heard about the new Gillette Heated Razor by Gillette Labs,
preseries testing paid by consumers  and thouhght:
Who in hell needs such nonsense - Yeah, I need that ;-)

Paid  a small amount of money, upgraded the parcel forward service and waiting.
After some time passing, at the end of february the new Razor has been shipped by Gillette Labs and arrived with some delay here at home.

The Heated Razor by Gillette Labs

The razor came in a nice box together with 2 cartridges, a magnetic wireless charging stand, U.S. power supply, extra in the parcel a 4 pc cartridges set.

The razor itself is waterproof, so it can be used in the shower,
got 2 heating stages - yellow for 45°C and red for 50°C

The handle is grippy and has a nice touch and feel

The suspension and hinge  is different to the Fusion but gives the same feeling, control and feedback
The Flexball system is called Flexdisc with same funtionality

Check the FAQ at Indiegogo and the other pages at Indiegogo for more deatils

After doing some testing like changing cartriges (the release button is working a bit to strong)
and waiting for beeing fully charged I started my first shaving try.

As mentioned earlier I didn`t expected much whow or something else but after the
first strokes there was only one word in my mind - stunning

Really, I was impressed what difference this small heating bar brings to the process of shaving
with a system razor.
Not like the warm towel, shown in the ads for the razor, but this small warm piece of metal forced me
to shave and shave again over my cheeks even while there was no more beard or foam.

I used vibrating razors, flexball, pivot and so on but this is really new and hot stuff
In a german razor forum discussion they screamed: use a DE with hot water instead.
I´ve done that, and yeah you can get the same wellness effect with a DE, but not if you want or have to use a cartridge system.

There are no long term experiences or what the razor will look or work after some time
and with the rests of soap or lime from the water. It is not so easy to clean.

I think I will not exchange to the final product for "free" cause with shipping to and back from the U.S., customs charges and 2 times shipping cost it will be another 100,- to 150,- so I can buy the final product in future here local.

Razor cartridge (not compatible to any Fusion handle)

FlexDisc slides sideways like the Flexball

Seperate heating panel connected to the razor, not the blades

the heating bar is 30 x 3 mm

The razor weight 75g

Wireless and magnetic charging station really heavy (  270g)
