After two more shaves

Time for a short follow-up

After I had 2 more shaves with the new razor, I am even more impressed than with the first shave.

The new handle is very ergonomic in the hand and by the weight very pleasant in handling, good grip with wet fingers.

Concerns that 7 blades are too much for my skin has not come true. No razor burn, no nicks.

At the last shave I used 2 razors, one per side of my face, the Pace6 plus and the Pace7, the shave on the side with Pace7 was more gently.

The new honeycomb bar works very fine, you really can feel it is softer especially when your shaving foam is not so slippery.
Yeah I know, sounds like pure marketing, but what shall I say otherwise - it is the reality for my shaves.

Here are two pictures of the cartridges

Pace6, Pace6+, Pace7

Pace6+, Pace7, Pace6

I do not know whether or when the shaver in the rest of the world will be available, maybe it remains available only in Asia.

Next time I will compare the Pace7 with the Fusion ProGlide Flexball - side to side ;-)

7 blades?

New 7 edges razor by dorco

the new Dorco Pace7

Finding only Korean information and reviews, I created this small blog. Better pictures are found in the Korean reviews and the Korean dorco facebook page
The introduction campaign includes a real barbershop in Seoul,
There is also a new shaving gel with Shea butter.

Dorco, founded 1955, is the market leader in Asia for disposable shaving products. They provide high quality cartridge razors at a reasonable price worldwide. The razors are sold under the brand name Dorco Pace or as a private label line worldwide. For more information you can visit the Korean HQ-site or the paceshave site, especially about the blades without welding.

-- edit:  There is a new and actual  company video on youtube

After launching the worlds first 6 blade razor in 2006 and later the Pace 6XL (in some markets known as Pace6+) with extra trimmer blade, Dorco now launched the new seven bladed Pace7.
7 edges in one cartridge, I had to try that and placed an order.

Overview

new designed handle, weight 46g incl. cartridge

ergonomic design with rubber for better grip and handling

new lubrication strip with Argan oil and marigold extract
7 edges and a
readying bar with 41 honeycomb holes
50 % less hardness than the old bar for a more comfortable feeling

still compatible to the patented common docking system (Pace 3, 4 6, 6+)

Price in Korea is actual ₩ 14.800  for the razor with 2 cartridges ($14,-)
and ₩ 16.800 for the refill pack with 4 cartridges ($15,-)

The first shave

I don`t shave on a daily base, mostly every 2 or 3 days, thanks to customs the first shave with the new Pace7 was a 4 day-shave. Using an aerosol shaving gel it has been a real nice, irritation and nick free shave. No need for a trimmer blade, the head is small enough to do the job under the nose cross the line. No problems with clogging, even with 7 edges standing together. I shave one stroke with the grain, no second stroke cross or against the grain.

Conclusion

A nicely designed and comfortable razor that gave me a fine shave and a fresh feeling afterwards. 7 blades without clogging or irritating my skin - well done.

Where to get

The razor and cartridges could be found on ebay or gmarket (the Korean ebay site), you can also use a Korean shopping agent like thebestbuykorea to get other stuff from Korea.
For additional reviews of razors (also for headshaving) i recommend a look at thebaldfatguy.
You should try the 4- or 6-bladed razors by Dorco also, they are worth the money and more easy to get.
